Genesis (on the 400 years)
15:13 Then Yahuweh said to Avram, "Know certainly that your descendants will be foreigners for 400 years in land that is not their own, and will be servants and slaves to the inhabitants, and will be afflicted by them.
15:14 and also, the nation whom they become enslaved to I will bring judgment upon, at which time I will cause your descendants to come out of that nation with great possessions."
15:15 Now as for you, you shall join your ancestors in peace, and you shall be buried at a ripe old age.
15:16 But in the fourth generation after they have entered that nation, they shall return here, for the willful sin of the Amorites is not yet complete.
